Two electrified powertrains are available for the new Escape Hybrid. The standard powertrain consists of a 2.5L four-cylinder engine coupled with two electric motors. This combination yields 192 horsepower. The engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission. Front-wheel drive drivetrain is standard, but there is an option for all-wheel drive drivetrain. When you engage the brakes, the available regenerative braking technology uses the energy produced to charge the battery. A plug-in hybrid 2.5L inline-four engine is also available. This engine is paired with an electric motor to produce 210 horsepower. The drivetrain here is front-wheel drive.
